Gabbana and Menhir

Don’t carry them yourself, but enjoy their natural origins!

Insiders’ tip for everyone looking for the perfect mix of  beach – desert – hiking – culture and a real holiday feeling.

Only 2 hours drive from Marsa Alam you discover the Eastern Desert and its highlights.

This vast, desolate area, rimmed by the Red Sea Mountains to the east and the Nile Valley in the west, was once criss-crossed by ancient trade routes and dotted with settlements that played vital roles in the development of many of the region’s greatest civilisations.

Today the Eastern Desert’s rugged expanses are filled with fascinating footprints of this history, including rock inscriptions, ancient gold and mineral mines, wells and watchtowers, and religious shrines and buildings.

Time spent here is one of the highlights of any visit to the Red Sea coast; it’s a world apart from the commercialised coastline.

You stay in a comfortabel hotel straightforward to the beach (a lot of rooms with sea-view), where you get easy living and nice food in a well-kept surrounding.

Based in that welcoming place you have a lot of options where to go.

Maybe you are interested in Shalatin, a traditional city close to the border of Sudan and famous for ist Camel-market. Here you may tray the famous local coffee called Gabbana.

Maybe you just want to try another beach, so follow us to Golaan-Beach and its cristal blue water. Sheltered in a straw hut you may get in touch with locals, buy some handicraft or just enjoy peace and silence.

Maybe you want to go to Wadi Gahaleya with its menhir and gorgeous landscape.
