Country information Chad
The Central African Republic of Chad is one of the largest countries in Africa and has a very extreme landscape. The north of the country is occupied by the world’s largest dry desert, the Sahara, with its hostile conditions. In addition, in the north lies the volcanic Tibesti Mountains and with the Emi Koussi and its 3,451 m also the highest point of Chad.
In the western and central part of the country, where the Sahel also runs, are the Chad Basin and Lake Chad. The south then the region with tropical to subtropical dry forests, in which diversity in flora and fauna can be explored – especially in the Zakouma National Park. And in between: dry and thorn savannas, gallery forests and the rivers and flood plains of Chari and Logone. Finally, Chad is scenically unique due to a deep, reddish glowing canyon, the huge Aloba rock arch polished by the wind or the Ounianga lakes lined with palm trees. Nature worth seeing, but also in the form of multicolored dunes
and the Archei Gorge, where you will find rock paintings and thus traces of civilization and culture. Culture in Chad but also semi-nomadic cattle breeders who live between the Sahel and Savannah and differ from each other in their individual way of life and in particular in their specific hairstyle.
And if you go all the way to the southwest, right on the border with Cameroon, you will find the capital N’Djamena, which is also
the country’s largest city.
Some data about the country:
