One of the most beautiful places in Egypt and rather unknown to most people is Wadi El Gemal National Park.

It is a prehistoric rock art site, as well as Ptolemaic and Roman ruins, and the mountain Mons Smaragdus, the site of small mining communities that date back to ancient Egypt.

It is different nature than western desert and Sinai mountain trails; home to a great variety of flora and fauna.

Interesting also to get in touch with the Bedouin Tribe who lives there, the Ababda, who has preserved their cultural heritage of music, dance and culinary art to a great level.

Trip details:

  • Pick-up at the Airport of Marsa Alam and transfer to your hotel – Lahmy Azur Resort. Located directly on a private beach it is a spacious compound with 2 pool-areas , open buffet for breakfast and lunch and a nice bedouin tent to enjoy your tea or coffee after dinner under the stars.
  • But your main attention is turned to your hike.
  • Up from day 2 you will start with a transfer to Wadi El Gemal with our 4x4 cars – back-up for you during the whole trip.
  • Every day might follow now a certain routine – of course always aware of necessary changes due to unforseen circumstances.
  • It is a camping trip – so every night you will have a rest in your tent or around the campfire. In the morning, after breakfast, get ready to hike.
  • Our guide will walk with you across the nature (waterfall of Satut as one highlight), to Roman Ruins (Sekeet, Apollonia), till the East Hamata Mountain. The park boasts some of the richest flora in the Arabian Desert, over 140 species of plants and bushes that characterize its diverse ecosystems: the coastal belt, the mouth of the Wadi, the coastal plain and the large valleys.
  • Lovely places for special photo-shootings - discover with us hidden tracks beside the main-route, forgotten since a long time.
  •  For lunch time you will have a picnic at a shady place to refill energy in between 2 hikes. At night, our cars will wait for tired walkers with refreshments, dinner and all camping equipment.
  • On day 8 we will bring you back to your hotel. Your way passes along the Red Sea, a lovely road that allows you to see unpolluted bays, mangrove thickets and Bedouin villages on your way home.
  • Enjoy your last day in Lahmy Resort before your adventure will be sealed with an airport transfer to Marsa Alam on day 10.
